About Purple 2015 Malbec, Cahors, Chateau Lagrezette

Purple is Malbec from France where Malbec originated. Cahors is just south of Bordeaux and Chateau Lagrezette has produced exceptional Malbec there for centuries, including the exceptional Paragon which carries a 95 point score, but with Purple you can get a little taste of the quality and character this chateau is putting in the bottle at a very attractive price. Made in a forward style that's extremely appealing by consulting Enologist Michel Rolland who has worked closely with the estate for many years. The Chateau has completed a renovation to the winery creating an all-new modern state-of-the-art facility. Grapes for Purple are sourced entirely from estate vineyards and vines averaging 15 years of age, so with good maturity. 100% Malbec fermented in stainless steel, temperature controlled to retain the grape's brightness and vibrancy. 2015 was one those miracle vintages that had winemakers cheering across the globe. This wine shows dark cherry and blackberry flavors. It's supple and balanced. Herb and mineral notes crop up on the mid-palate and linger on the crisp finish. A super value!
