About Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano Riserva 2012 Carpineto

The 2011 was named a Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2016! This 2012 got the same score! It derives its name from the Renaissance town of Montepulciano, located in the province of Siena. The term "Nobile" seems to originate from the fact that in the past its production was reserved exclusively for the aristocratic, noble families of the town. And the with is made from the noblest grape in the region, Sangiovese. The grapes were macerated on the skins with the must for 10-15 days. The frequent pump-overs are accomplished using special pumps designed to move solid parts very gently. The wine aged two years in large Slavonian oval oak barrels, with a small percentage aging in French oak barrels. Wine Spectator scored this 93 points saying "This is dense, with black cherry, blackberry, tobacco and leather flavors, picking up mineral and spice details on the long aftertaste. Shows ample tannins, fine depth and complexity. Drink now through 2023."
