About Tignanello 2014 Toscana IGT, Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello is the first and most consistent of the great Super Tuscans. Of course Antinori is the world famous producer of Tuscan wines, their history going back literally centuries and their vineyard holding unrivaled. The Tignanello Estate is located between the Greve and Pesa river valleys in the heart of the Chianti Classico appellation. In these 320 acres of vineyards, the Antinori family, more than anywhere else, has expressed its principles and working philosophy: reconcile tradition and modernity with wines that are strictly and authentically tied to their territories of origin. Solaia and Tignanello, the two iconic wines of the estate, have been defined by the international press as "among the most influential wines in the viticultural history of Italy" and are a constant symbol of the passion that drives the Antinori family's continual quest for greatness. The 2013 vintage was selected in the top 10 of Wine Spectator's Top 100 wines. James Suckling was the first to weigh in with a 94 point score saying "Really pretty aromas of currants and roses follow through to a medium body, firm and silky tannins and a fresh finish. Very well done for 2014 and a wonderful Tignanello to drink now or later. Better in 2019." Wine Spectator just scored this 93 points saying "A black currant thread winds through this dense red, with cherry, leather, earth, iron and mineral flavors. Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2020 through 2033."
