About Black Stallion 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

A previous Wine Enthusiast Magazine pick as one of the 30 best Napa Cabs Under $30. Located right on the Silverado Trail, the Black Stallion Estate winery is named in honor of the former Silverado Horsemen's Center that was once located there. The winery is owned by a family with a history spanning three generations and more than 85 years. The family is very involved with all aspects, producing fine Napa Valley Cab from vineyards throughout the valley. This is a blend of grapes sourced from Rutherford, Oak Knoll, Atlas Peak, Howell Mountain, Oakville, Diamond Mountain, Mount Veeder, Spring Mountain and Stag's Leap. Each lot of grapes is vinified separately. It's a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon; 7% Petite Sirah; 3% Merlot; 4% Other varieties aged 18 months in 35% new oak barrels (80% French and 20% American). This 2014 scored 90 points from James Suckling and 90 points from Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "Spicy in clove and juicy black cherry, this is an approachable, densely packed wine, full of fruit and integrated power. Soft edges of chocolate and tobacco nip at the fruit, as a lengthy finish wraps up the experience with balance."
