About Brouilly 2015 l'Enfer des Balloquets, Robert Perroud

Here's an exceptional Cru Beaujolais from the vintage James Suckling poses may be the best since 1947, saying "Winemakers in Beaujolais are making the claim that this vintage (2015) is the best since 1947, which was "a hot and dry year producing powerfully rich and long-lived wines." Robert Perroud is a small producer who take a hands on approach, making wines from indivdual parcels that truly express their terroir. Grapes for this wine come from a steep hillside vineyard with a 40% grade that is hell(Enfer)for the grape pickers. The wine on the other hand is heavenly. Vinous scored it 92 points and said "Brilliant ruby. Fresh and energetic on the nose, displaying fresh raspberry, cherry and spicecake aromas and a hint of smoky minerals. Palate-staining red fruit and floral pastille flavors are lifted and sharpened by a suggestion of white pepper. Smoothly plays depth off vivacity and finishes impressively long and pure, leaving a sweet red berry note behind."
