Another great 2001 Brunello this wine comes from the makers of our single vineyard 'Manapetra'. From vineyards on one of the sloping hills surrounding the estate this Brunello is vinified in the same fashion as the other top wines from this estate. Bold flavors of black cherry stawberry and tobacco spice make this big Brunello a perfect match for hearty winter fare. Very Limited!!!...

Not yet ready to drink. Upon opening: Muted nose. Tart unripened red berry flavors quickly turn to a very harsh, bitter green tannic finish.
After three hours in the decanter: The nose is still muted, but the faint scents are fairly pleasant. Better flavors on the tongue, but still like too young berries. Still some greenness on the finish, but the dominant feeling is a chalkiness that coats the palate, leaving almost a green banana peel flavor.
Flavors and score may improve with time, but I think this bottle was years away from being ready.
