The vineyards are laid out like an amphitheater surrounding an old country house with south-southwest exposure and the presence of a balanced structured soil. As in much of Italy Sangiovese is grown here and with great results at the hands of the master Fiore. His Balitor...

Comments about Balitore 2006 Sangiovese di Romagna, Balia di Zola:

We like red wine, but I wanted to pair something with Linguine and white clam sauce. Everything else we had seemed too fruity, and then I remembered the Sangiovese ( Not my favorite red variety, usually too harsh and woody for my tastes). I let it breathe for about 30 minutes, and as it lay in the glass, it opened very nicely, and was perfect with the pasta! A much smoother Sangiovese- but I still didn't love it after the meal without food!

Comments about Balitore 2006 Sangiovese di Romagna, Balia di Zola:

I tried [...] this particular wine after having received emails and after watching the virtual tasting. It was intended as a trial to see if I would order on more occasions. It was shortly after receiving shipment that my wife nd I paired it with an nice Italian dinner. Granted, the wine was quite inexpensive and I should not have expected much. But, I at least expected it to be drinkable! My wife and I tasted it and we literaly poured the whole bottle down the sink.

Nice table wine. Excellent value for the price. We had the wine with a steak and it held up okay. Probably better suited for a pasta or pizza.
