Chateau de Rochemorin 2009 Pessac-Leognan

Andre Lurton is owner of several fine properties in Bordeaux including the popular Chateau Bonnet and the esteemed Chateau Louviere in Pessac-Leognan. This Chateau is not far from Louviere and has over 200 acres of red grapes planted in the deep gravelly soils. The vines average a mature 15-18 years of age and are densely planted to lower yields and bring out the intense flavors that are on display in this rich 2009. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, aged in French oak for 12 months. Wine Spectator scored it 90 points saying "This has gutsy, briary edges, offering lots of spice, mulled currant and fig fruit, with tangy, vibrant iron and juniper notes rippling through the finish. Rock-solid. Drink now through 2018." A winning 2009 at a great price!

The nose on this bordeaux is out of this world! Rich cedar and currant notes, hints of tobacco, smoke, vanilla and toasted oak. Decant it for half hour and all this will seduce you to buy more. It will certainly benefit from aging, but it's is quite vibrant now, a solid 90pt wine without a doubt.

This is an old world styled wine from the tremendous 2009 vintage. Harmonious balance of concentrated fruit, terroir, and oak integration gives this wine lots of Bordeaux charm and character. It finishes dry and long with all that French dirt hanging around, gotta love that!
