Chateau Hyot 2010 Castillon-Cotes de Bordeaux
Chateau Hyot showcases the masterful skill of winemaking consultant Michel Rolland. The wine is a Merlot-based blend from mature, 40 year-old vines. 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged in 60% new French barrels for 12 months. Grapes are hand-picked, plot by plot, then meticulously sorted and de-stemmed before placement in stainless steel vats with temperature control. Wine Spectator scored it 90 points saying "Very ripe, offering saturated cassis, blackberry and boysenberry pāte de fruit flavors that are racy and distinctive, thanks to fresh acidity and sleek tannins. The long finish has nice density." A superb value.

Comments about Chateau Hyot 2010 Castillon-Cotes de Bordeaux:

The cassis and black cherry filled nose is quite intense, lending hints of vanilla and anise. The mouthfeel is pleasantly vibrant with supple tannins and a long, fruit filled yet dry finish. Drinking suprisingly well right now, but will evolve over the next few years.

Comments about Chateau Hyot 2010 Castillon-Cotes de Bordeaux:

The first taste seemed promising as the wine had some resemblance of dry fruit unfortunately this was quickly replaced with a vinegar-like taste which lingered into oblivion and made the wine unpalatable
