Chateau Pezat 2011 Bordeaux Superieur
From Jonathan Malthus who produces the famous, ultra premium Le Dome as well as Grand Cru Chateau Teyssier. This wine is a departure because it's from a lesser appellation and so comes in at a great value price. Of course Malthus puts his magic touch on this humble red Bordeaux, lowering yields, doing careful grape selection and ultimately delivering lush character and intensity that goes well beyond the AOC or the price point. This 2011 is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc aged a year in oak. Robert Parker said "this sleeper of the vintage will offer a serious mouthful of wine".

Comments about Chateau Pezat 2011 Bordeaux Superieur:

No mistaking this wine for anything other than a Bordeaux. Notes of black and red cherry, raspberry, earth and anise are clear as day on the nose. It has that terroir driven chewy texture and finishes smooth and off dry. Drinking very nicely for a younger wine.
