Fine white Burgundy from the heart of the Cote D'Or. Maison Bellene is the Burgundy negicoant house started by famed Burgundy winemaker Nicolas Potel of the Domaine Pousse D'Or. The philosophy is the same as Nicolas used to in the past; sourcing wines from top growers that Nicolas has worked with over the last 15 years. This Puligny-Montrachet is an excellent example. The grapes for this Vielles Vigne bottling come from a small, less than an acre sized plot, planted in 1954. So the vines are over 50 years of age. Hand-picked, fermented and aged in French oak barrels for 15 months, it shows rich flavor with firm structure and acidity. Pears, hazelnuts, wet stones, citrus and pineapple notes are all evident.
