Teatown Cellars 2007 Right Bank Blend, Napa Valley Red
Right Bank Blend refers to Bordeaux where the wines from that side of the Garonne River are silky and supple from the superb Merlot grapes that grow there. Of course Napa Valley also grows beautiful Merlot grapes and this killer blend of 75% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec and 5% Petite Verdot is Napa Valley through and through. The Merlot comes from the Kenefick Ranch in Calistoga at the foothills of the Palisade Mountains who also provide grapes to wineries like Etude, Plumpjack, Joseph Phelps, Lewis, Robert Mondavi and others. The wine is aged in French, American and Hungarian oak barrels and shows just a hint of toasty vanilla along with ripe black cherry, cedar, cocoa and a touch of mint, beautifully integrated with soft, silky tannins and a lingering finish. The 2005 was a staggering success and we like this 2007 even more. Don't miss it!

    If you enjoyed the 05 vintage of this intricate Bordeaux blend, then you don't want to miss the latest release! The fantastic '07 vintage has brought out all the fruit, yet the craftful winemakers have kept this a soft and luxurious wine. Loads of black cherry, plum, currant and mocha are layered over the notes of vanilla and mint. It's a full bodied wine, but without being overpowering. Enjoyable now but will certainly mellow out over the next few years as well.

                        This wine is just wonderful, and I am working on the second case of it in one month, so obviously it is a favorite. For the price it is really a Wow. Anyone who tastes it will think it sold for a premium price. Best bargain of the past year in my opinion.
