||Dominus 2009 Napa Vallley Red
The historic Napanook Vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in the Napa Valley that has been in production since the late 19th century is the home of Christian Moueix' Dominus. Located in the heart of Napa Valley, Dominus is an iconic wine that never lacks for bold intensity and power. Robert Parker scored this 2009 97+ points saying "The 2009 Dominus flows from the glass with layers of highly expressive fruit. The wine possesses stunning richness, power and depth. Dark red fruit, tobacco, flowers and spices are woven into a seamless, beautifully articulated finish. Elegance and intensity are in perfect harmony here. This is a thrilling wine from Dominus. The blend is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029."

Ask Us a Question
Josh - Being this 2009 Dominus is a young wine, how long should I decant this wine to taste its potential? I know everyone's taste is different. I'm looking for a minimum of hours ..... 2, 4 , 6 or 8 hours?
BTW - I enjoyed your tasting videos ... I use it as guides to try new wines and compare my tasting notes.

Thank you your question and comments. In the past we did a video tasting for Dominus where I opened the bottle the day before the tasting and it showed beautifully. Not sure you need to go to that extreme, the wine is so carefully constructed and finely honed that even without much breathing you'll find very few rough edges. The airing does allow the the flavors to emerge, however. Give it 2 hours and I'm sure you'll find it very harmonious and expressive. Of course ideally you'd want to give it 5-10 years in your cellar. Enjoy it!
