Freemark Abbey 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley |
 |
Back in 1976 Freemark Abbey Cabernet was on of the wines in the famous Judgment in Paris Tasting. It's been a Napa Valley staple for decades and today Freemark Abbey is still producing outstanding wines. A large portion of the grapes for this 2009 are sourced from their Bosche Vineyard and Sycamore vineyards in Rutherford. It's a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc aged in French and American oak barrels. The Wine Advocate scored it 92 points saying "A powerful, direct wine, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon hits the palate with a blast of dark cherries, plums, violets and spice box. The tannins remain quite firm, so another few years of cellaring is probably a good idea. I very much like the sense of energy and direction, especially on the finish. The 2009 is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc, from parcels in Stage Coach, Potelle, Veeder Peak, Bosche and Sycamore." Grab it while it's On SALE!!
