Divining Rod 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley |
 |
Third generation winemaker, Marc Mondavi has talent beyond his ability to create award-winning wines. He's able to use divining rods to locate underground sources of water. Useful for planting vineyards at one time perhaps, but now just sort of a parlor trick. Much more impressive these days is something he doesn't need a magic wand for; his uncanny ability to locate the best grapes available. And that's exactly what goes into this super value Diving Rod Cab. He sources high quality Cabernet Sauvignon from prime vineyards in the Alexander Valley and creates a wine that shows the bold flavor profile, rich texture and classic structure those wines are famous for. But the best trick of all is that it sells for about half the price of your average Alexander Valley Cab. Not bad, but not surprising since we all know by now that the Mondavis work magic with Cabernet. Tasting Panel magazine scored it 90 points saying 'This Cab is possessed with the ability to exhibit juicy, red cherries, sprinkled with cinnamon and a touch of earth."
