Hanna 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley
This delicious Cabernet comes from Hanna’s estate vineyard, the Red Ranch in Alexander Valley. About 50 acres of Cabernet and about 25 acres of Merlot grow there on gravelly red loam soils. The grapes were sorted, destemmed and the partially crushed and cold soaked for up to 13 days. After fermentation the finished wine is aged in French oak barrels from Taransaud, Seguin Moreau, Saury and Canton. This 2009 is 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and about 1% each of Merlot and Malbec and the flavors and aromas are lush, floral and full with blackberry, violet, scorched earth, and cedar nuances. Tannins are supple and chewy and this wine drinks beautifully right now, right out of the bottle. Grab it while it's On Sale!

      All around great Cabernet. At this price point, Hanna can compete with some wines that are double this price point. After about 10 minutes of opening, it was very approachable. Great integration of vanilla and oak and not too tannic. This is one to buy by the case and enjoy within the next several years.

        This Hanna Cab is right now my favorite from the AV region in this price range. It has so much elegance and charm, just a delightful wine. Classic Cab nose with cassis, black cherry and plum aromas. But it carries this floral note that stays with the wine through the finish giving it real complexity. Hints of smoky oak and sweet spices add to the playful balance of this wine.

          This is a great cab that is under rated. Very good taste now and should hold up well if stored for a while. Some of the other Alexander valley wines are not of this quality, but cost more, so a good value here for the price. I'd hold it up against wines that cost more.

            A nice well-rounded wine that's good any time. At this price,it's a winner. We have had it on our repeat purchase list for several years & expect to keep it there. Actually, this is one of the nicest wines we've had, considering its price. It ranks up there with the $40 to $70 wines for nose, palate, and finish. This wine is going to be one of my "GoTo" wines hencefoth.

                I'm biased toward good Alexander Valley Cabs, and this one supports my bias to a tee. A very nice wine by itself, but superb given its price. A full, chewy wine that has worked well - neither under- nor overpowering - with everything we've tried. Good across the board - nose, palate, finish. I need another case of this.
