Ermitage 2004 Le Meal, M. Chapoutier

This wine a one of the very rare, small prdouction wines from Michel Chapoutier. The wine is only produced with grapes coming from the Méal hillside in the Hermitage appellation. This slope is composed of high terraces of shingles and clay. The Syrah vines here average 50 years old. Only 240 cases total were produced. Robert Parker scored it 90+ and the Wine Spectator scored it 93 saying "Has fine purity for the vintage, with silky-textured red cherry, raspberry and plum fruit flavors intertwined with mineral, light cocoa and floral notes. Gains weight through the lengthy finish. Best from 2008 through 2017." Very Limited!
