Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2009 Chanson Pere et Fils |
 |
Chanson is a Burgundy estate whose history dates back to 1750. With extensive holdings in some of the regions most prized vineyards they've produced great reds and white for literally centuries. In 1999 Bollinger Champagne took over what was then a house with its glory starting to fade. Gilles Courcel of Domaine Courcel is now in charge and Jean-Jacques Confuron is the winemaker. The estate has been transformed into what is today one of the top quality producers in Burgundy. So here is a very basic but very finely crafted 2009 Bourgogne red. Grapes are sourced from their own vineyards in the Cote de Nuit and from select growers in the Cote de Beaune. The stellar '09 vintage shines through as the ripe cherry, berry flavors emerge on a framework of racy tannins with spice, wood smoke and forest floor adding to the complexity. A remarkable wine for the price. On Sale!
