Archipel 2007 Red Blend, Sonoma, Verite |
 |
In the rarefied air atop the Mayacamas Mountains Jess Jackson's Verite team sources mountain fruit from their estate vineyards. Elevations rise from 750 to 2,400 feet where the vines receive ample sunshine and benefit from the rocky, well-drained soils, producing small, concentrated berries. The resultant wines are deeply colored with distinctive flavors and rich concentration. Celebrated winemaker Pierre Seillan personally selects and puts together this Bordeaux style blend of blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec, just as he does for Verite. And even though this is a limited production wine, aged 16 months in new French and American oak barrels, Archipel, comes to us at a far more affordable price. Steve Tanzer said it had it "Wild, musky aromas of plum, smoked meat and nutty oak. Sweet, juicy and old school, with a leesy complexity and notes of coffee, meat and green pepper currently dominating underlying fruit. Finishes with dusty, slightly drying tannins. In a distinctly Old World style". You won't want to miss this every man's Verite. On Sale!
