A lush, mouthwatering red blend, Primal Roots combines three of California's most versatile and distinctive grapes; Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel for a wine that delivers the best of all three. Oak aging adds to the nuance and complexity while the softness, richness and ripe fruit of 49% Merlot marries with the bold texture and earthiness of 42% Syrah and the zesty berry and spice of 9% Zinfandel for a mouthful of wine that's both tasty and satisfying. Aged in American and French oak barrels, it's the perfect choice for everyday foods and enjoyment.
Here is a smart California blend that is so ripe, you could use it for just about anything and anytime. A spicy overtone very similar some of the finest Zins I've had although the percentage of it is quite low. I would describe it as very chewy with dense fruity flavor that is sure to please. Just one of the many Cal blends these days that are really standing up well to the pallet. Pick up a couple of bottles at a great price and put a couple in storage for a while....I did. And remember, it dosen't have to cost a fortune to taste good.
This could be the best Cali blend I've tried yet, and it's Cheap! Quite dark, lush, rich and full of berry flavor, it's easily as good as the Handcraft Dark Red! (my other cheap favorite) This blend goes with everything spicy, even Asian style spicy. I like to have a glass with a "furious chicken bowl", level III, from the Japanese fusion place around the corner. I could drink this 2015 every day, for ever! You're missing out if you don't try it. Cheers!
This is a delicious red blend. For the price, it is an outstanding value. I like red blend wines, and this is one of the better ones I have had. It is a fruit forward wine, not too heavy and not too light - just right. It would go good with just about any food too, so it is a versatile red. It also is good to just drink alone because of its luscious flavor.
This is a great all around red, especially for the price. Like many other blends, this wine is able to bring out the great notes of each grape and have a be a nice balanced drink...Great for beginners.
Here's another one of these interesting red blends that packs a lot of punch for the price. The soft and supple black currant and floral notes from the Merlot are well balanced with the black cherry and cassis from the Cab and the brambly berries from the Zin. It's a big wine but not overpowering as it stays smooth on the palate through the finish.
