Simi 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley
Simi Vineyards has enjoyed a rich history in California wine making. One of the first wineries to rebound after prohibition and since then has lead the charge in making classic Alexander Valley Cabs among other prime selections. The first American client of famous French Enologist Michel Rolland, current winemaker Steve Reeder has won consistent accolades throughout the industry including making a Wine Spectator #1 Wine of the Year when he worked at Chateau St. Jean. Simi owns 600 acres of estate vineyards in Alexander Valley including the Landslide vineyard, and so Reeder has access to the best fruit in the region. This 2009 shows that very well with intense black cherry, blackberry flavors balanced by supple tannins and toasty, spicy notes that linger on the finish. A classy wine that’s a stalwart of Sonoma County, showing real pedigree and at a great price.

    As a Nouveau Vino Connoisseur, I was pleasently surprised by the body and texture of the Simi 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon. I tried this at a wine tasting and was tempted to ask for seconds. What's great about the wine is the smell of the wine. It reminded me of my grandfather's vineyard in Calabria. It prompted me to purchase a case and coordinate a family reunion, one we haven't had in 15 years.
    We enjoyed the wine with an al dente pasta mixed with sausage and red peppers.
    It was a great night with great people filled with a great wine.
    I have recommended this wine to all my friends and plan to have another case for the upcoming holiday season!

                This wine has a terrific nose consisting of black cherry,hints of oak and spice. The taste is exactly what you would expect smooth and well balanced. This wine is drinking well right now or you can hold for a few years but at under $20 a bottle when you order a case you might as well make it an everyday entertaining wine.

                        Always been pleased with this Vineyard. Reliable and good example of the classic grapes they use. Balance of acid and tannins -work to deliver a smooth and enjoyable wine. Black currant & cherry notes. Price is right on this classic and iconic wine - great for gift giving.

                            This dark wine tastes and smells like black cherry and cinnamon. It gives off a burnt oak aroma from being stored in american oak. Very balanced and tastes great with a nice lamb chop! I highly recommend.
