Silver Oak is the standard bearer for Napa Valley Cab. Because Silver Oak only produces Cabernet Sauvignon from California's two best Cabernet microclimates, their wines are consistently outstanding and complex, brimming with ripe cassis flavors, carefully seasoned with toasty new oak. This Napa Valley bottling from the 2008 vintage is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 2008 91 points noting “Easy to see why Silver Oak remains so popular”
and that it “Should develop for at least a decade”. So grab some for now and for your cellar while it's ON SALE!!!! Read the full Silver Oak 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon review in Wine Enthusiast Magazine's Buying Guide
This wine came with quite a fanfare, and it didn't disappoint. It has that intense, deep fruity taste one expects of a good Napa cab. My only knock on it would be that it doesn't have quite the minerality that look for in top tier wines. However, that isn't really a criticism of this wine. I splurged and bought a case, and only break out a bot when celebrating this and that with VERY good friends. It's a sure winner.
