As good as Chateau de Beaucastel? Wine Express has offered this Chateauneuf exclusively to our customers since the 2005 vintage. 2010 is another killer vintage. When Decanter Magazine reviewed the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape, Masters of Wine Jancis Robinson and Julia Harding tasted well over 200 wines. Of the 200 rated only 15 wines scored 18 or higher out of 20. The 2009 Domaine de L�Arnesque was one of them. Outscoring iconic wines like, Chapoutier Barbe Rac, Bosquet des Pape, La Nerthe Cuvee de Cadette, Marcoux Vielles Vignes and many more. And what's even more extraordinary is the fact that the wines it scored on par with are all 2-3 times the price� wines like Chateau de Beaucastel, Domaine de la Janasse Vielles Vignes, Domaine de Font Michelle, Roger Sabon Reserve and others. At under $30 a bottle by the case, it was probably the best Chateauneuf du Pape deal of all time!!

The 2010 is just in and it's Exclusive to Wine Express! The Biscarrat family have been wine growers in the area for 6 generations. Marie and Julien Biscarrat (sister and brother) took over the domain in 2005 and changed the name to Domaine de l'Arnesque, after the famed lieu-dit Arnesque in Chateauneuf du Pape. This is where their 12 acre vineyard is located, on the southwestern hill-side of the Mont Redon plateau. The Cuvee Capelane is made from very old vine fruit from that vineyard, up to 100 years of age. 100% Grenache aged in oaks vats for 12 months. Robert Parker rates the vintage overall at 97 points as compared to 93 for the 2009 vintage. You don't want to miss this!!!

This is truly an intricate and delightful CDP from l'Arnesque. The intense aromas are full of ripe raspberry, black cherry and peppery spice with hints of smoked meat. It is somewhat delicate yet has a dense core of fruit that carries from the palate through the long and lovely finish. It's drinking well as a young wine now, but this should evolve for several years with age.

The flavors in this Chateauneuf go on for days and each time you smell it you'll get something new. Layers of sweet baking spice are there on top of blackberries. On the palate it is mouthfilling and juicy with nice acidity to make it food-friendly but a real lushness that makes it hard to resist. Wish I bought more!

This is a great Grenache. it is my favorite wine in a good while. I enjoyed a couple bottles and then ordered a case, before I posted this review. I wanted to make sure they did not run out. 2010 is looking like a very special year.
