Chateau Haut Queyran 2009 Medoc
This modest property in the heart of the Médoc is run by Monsieur and Madame Salette, the fifth generation of vignerons to make wine at the estate. The wines are made using sustainable, traditional agricultural methods, and much of the work is still done by hand. The blend is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot. From the outstanding 2009 vintage, this Medoc has been aged for 18 months in oak, and show distinct flavors of black currant, anise, cocoa and cigar box cedar. For 2009 Bordeaux it is a remarkable value.

Comments about Chateau Haut Queyran 2009 Medoc:

Purchased on an impulse and because a Bordeaux wine are seldom disappointing. Wow! It is dry but NOT overpowering. Sipping it is as easy as drinking a glass of water. Reasonably priced, definitely a keeper.

Comments about Chateau Haut Queyran 2009 Medoc:

Another tremendous value from this wonderful 2009 vintage in Bordeaux. I found this wine to be very enjoyable from start to finish. Bright and vivid aromas of black cherry, licorice with hints of tobacco and dried herbs. It is vibrant with lots of fruit on the palate, but not to the point of being jammy. The tannins kick in on the backend leaving a dry and fruit filled finish. Really tough to beat for the price.

              Previous vintages were good
2009 is hard on the palate and tongue

              • Q:

Received 6 bottles of this wine about a week ago and just opened the first one. It is very disappointing and tastes as if it has been cooked. Dreadful oxidized aromas and cooked plums with a strong sherry character. Maybe it is just this one bottle. Has anyone else had this problem?
