Given the many very good Cahors I have tasted in the past -perhaps my expectations were too high-I found the wine a little metallic and lacking fruit. Still for the price it was just OK.

I was very excited to see a Cahors listed by Wine Enthusiast as the 2nd best wine of 2012. I have always loved the deep, concentrated flavor from the region. I just drank my bottle of LaLande Cavagnac yesterday. And boy oh boy, I loved it! Deep and rich, with tannins yet the fruit - blackberry - is able to come through.

The Domaine de Cause offers a lot of complexity for the price. Nice spicy fruit cake aromas and notes of plum with puckery tannins round out the mouthfeel. A great value.

A very impressive effort all around starting with dark black fruit, spice and a smoky edge on the nose. It's quite dense and weighted on the palate with firm tannins and hints of roasted coffee. It finishes long and dry with a slightly bitter kick at the end… which I love!

First had this wine when I was visiting Cahors in 2011. It is deep and rich with a hint of dark cherry notes. The Costes family is lovely just like the wine. Bought two bottles - drank one and cellared the other.
