Villa Cafaggio is a 160 acre estate located in an area of the Chianti Classico region known as the "Conca d'Oro" or Golden Basin because it has such an ideal microclimate. Vineyards lie at about 1,200 feet above sea level and only grapes from the south facing hillsides go into this Riserva which also benefits from the superb conditions of the 2009 vintage. 100% Sangiovese the wine was aged 18 months in French oak barriques before an addition 4 months in large casks and 6 months in the bottle. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 94 points saying "Here's a beautiful Chianti Classico from Panzano's Conca d'Oro or Golden Basin, one of the best areas in the denomination. It has compelling aromas of pipe tobacco, crushed cherry, smoke and leather. The palate delivers juicy black-cherry, plum, clove, carob and mineral. This wine has it all: structure, elegance and mesmerizing depth." Don't miss this.
