Cruz de Alba is made with grapes from vines over 20 years old in the Pagos de los Hoyales, at the heart of Ribera del Duero’s "Golden Mile". Manual harvest when the grapes attain optimum ripeness, fermentation according to traditional Bordeaux methods, and 14 months aging in new French and American oak casks provide this unique wine with elegance and distinction. Accolades are many for this bold red. Wine & Spirits scored the 2007 92 points and the Wine Advocate gave this 2008 90 points saying “The 2008 Crianza is 100% Tinto Fino aged for 15 months in 33% new French oak. Wood smoke, toast, pencil shavings, violets, Asian spices, espresso, and blackberry notes inform the nose of this ripe, savory, nicely balanced red. With excellent volume, concentration, and length, it is likely to evolve for it is likely to evolve for another 1-2 years it is likely to evolve for another 1-2 years and provide optimum drinking from 2013 to 2020.
