With 1,625 acres of vineyards, Faustino’s Reserva and Gran Reserva wines are all estate grown and bottled. The vineyards are located in the upper portion of the Rioja Alavesa, at an altitude of 1,200-1,800 feet. Here, the climate is relatively cool thanks to the maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean to the north, and the vines thrive in the area’s chalky soil. Grapes are de-stemmed and undergo fermentation for 10 days at 84°F. The grapes then go through a 20-day maceration period. Then they are aged for a total of 41 months (17 months in 100% American oak casks and 24 months in bottle). The Wine Spectator said "The leafy and cherry flavors are bright in this racy red, mingling with tobacco and slightly charry notes over light, firm tannins. Offers a cola and balsamic finish."
