Faustino produces Gran Reserva only in the best vintages. With 1,625 acres of vineyards, Faustino's Gran Reserva wines are all estate grown and bottled. The vineyards are located in the upper portion of the Rioja Alavesa,
at an altitude of 1,200- 1,800 feet. Here, the climate is relatively cool thanks to the maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean to the north, and the vines thrive in the area's chalky soil. This wine is a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. After fermentation the wine aged for 28 months in 80% American oak barrels from West Virginia and 20% French Vosges oak barrels. It has matured in the Bodegas' cellar since then, softening to a silken smoothness and taking on immense complexity.

"Beautifully balanced, this shows all the positive attributes of mature Rioja. Very alive, with deep sweet fruit that wears tobacco and meat accents. Anise accents the ultra smooth palate. Full of complex flavors, with a lingering finish." EXTREMELY LIMITED!
