About Our Ratings

Two Hands 2011 Shiraz, Bella's Garden, Barossa Valley
Amazing pedigree. A Wine Spectator Top 100 selection eight of the last nine years including Top 10 four times. Full bodied, ripe, layered Shiraz sourced from top vineyards in Barossa and vinted with the skill and artistry that has made this winery legendary. The 2010 was 95 points and number 3 on the Wine Spectator Top 100 list and the Wine Advocate gave it the same lofty 95 point score. This 2011 is another bold, lush, densely packed wine with all of the expression and intensity this wine is known for. It's also very limited so don't wait grab some to enjoy now and to cellar for future enjoyment. Florida Weekly just selected it as an ideal Thanksgiving wine. The International Wine Cellar scored it 91 points saying "Dark ruby. Spicy cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by an exotic Indian spice quality. Chewy, round and nicely concentrated, with sweet, focused black and blue fruit compote flavors lifted by tangy acidity. Appealingly sweet on the youthfully tannic finish, which leaves allspice, blueberry and bitter chocolate notes behind. Shows the best traits of this difficult Barossa vintage and might surprise with its ability to age.". The Wine Front scored it 92+ and Wine Life Magazine scored it 93 saying "Bright ruby color with perfumed notes of red cherry, raspberries and cedar with just a subtle hint of spice behind it. If you think itís going to be a fruit bomb from the alluring aromas, think again! The fruit is elegantly balanced and framed by the ripe tannins and 17 months in French oak. This vintage feels a little dustier than normal, but even in a difficult, cool and wet vintage, the Bellaís Garden shines."

Comments about Two Hands 2011 Shiraz, Bella's Garden, Barossa Valley:

As the best wines are, it was enjoyed on a great night with great food and great friends. It paired well from the prime rib through the chocolate dessert. It's a shame I didn't buy more.

Comments about Two Hands 2011 Shiraz, Bella's Garden, Barossa Valley:

What a refined and elegant vintage for the Bella's Garden Shiraz. The nose is intensely aromatic with all kinds of black fruit, baking spice, tobacco and meaty notes. It is a big wine for sure, but carries a good amount of acidity along with the lush tannins giving it a delightful mouthfeel and smooth finish. It will age for sure, but it is drinking so nicely after a little time to open right now that there is no need to wait!
