The Seeker 2010 Malbec, Mendoza |
 |
Grapes for The Seeker Malbec come from high altitude vineyards in the Andes foothills of Argentina. The Agrelo and Vistaflores subregions of Mendoza have vineyards well above 3,000 feet on poor soils where the vines strugle and the roots go deep. Yields are natuarlly low and all of the fruit is hand picked and hand sorted. 10% Bonarda and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon are blended with the Malbec and the wine is aged one year in French oak barrels. It shows a dense core for black fruits spice and licorice. Very supple tannins add a chewy quality to the mid-palate and the flavors linger on the finish. A super value!
