The Seeker 2010 Malbec, Mendoza
Grapes for The Seeker Malbec come from high altitude vineyards in the Andes foothills of Argentina. The Agrelo and Vistaflores subregions of Mendoza have vineyards well above 3,000 feet on poor soils where the vines strugle and the roots go deep. Yields are natuarlly low and all of the fruit is hand picked and hand sorted. 10% Bonarda and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon are blended with the Malbec and the wine is aged one year in French oak barrels. It shows a dense core for black fruits spice and licorice. Very supple tannins add a chewy quality to the mid-palate and the flavors linger on the finish. A super value!

Comments about The Seeker 2010 Malbec, Mendoza:

This wine seems to be a step above most of those $15 Malbecs on the market. It has all the quintessential Mendoza Malbec components (dark fruit, gripping tannins and spice), but is a bit more structured and elegant than most of its competition. Flying under the radar for now, but I don't expect that to be the case for long.
