Dona Paula 2011 Malbec, Los Cardos, Mendoza
Always a solid value, this Los Cardos Malbec from Dona Paula is a fresh, fruit-forward expression of Argentine Malbec. Grapes are sourced from high altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley and the Lujan de Cuyo. The grapes are de-stemmed and cold soaked to preserve the primary aromas. Extended maceration adds to the texture and rounds out the tannins. It shows big aromas of berry fruit and roasted nuts. The palate is firm but zesty with with bright berry, black tea and mineral flavors. A hint of toast comes up on the lingering finish. Best Buy Alert!

      I am not a Malbec fan, but I bought a 4-pack with 2 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2 Malbec in a very good deal, so that I accepted buying Malbec. I made for dinner Tomato Sauce Shrimp Penne, where I used a lamb sauce from the weekend leftover(the strong flavor of the lamb goes well with wine) to increase the texture of the tomato sauce, with mushrooms and black olives. The result was fantastic. A wine that I wasn't expecting too much, but with the food turned my Malbec Experience fantastic. I strongly recommend this wine.

      Fruit forward with some peppery notes. Lingering tannins that will mellow with some age. Would pair well with Empanadas!

          Very fragrant with lots of fruit,a little earth,high acid, and a spicy peppery note that makes this a really nice mouthfeel. A great value to pair with many things.

              A nice dark colored wine, excellent pepper aroma & taste. Strong berry flavor with a smooth finish to the palette. Great entertaining wine, pairs well with appetizers, small bites and even with full meals. Recommend to all.
