Primus 2009 The Blend, Colchagua, Veramonte |
 |
For over 10 years, The Blend has been one of Chile’s top red wines, expressing power and finesse. A blend of 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Syrah, 25% Carmenere and 18% Merlot.
Veramonte is owned by Agustin Huneeus, creator of some the world’s best red blends including Magnificat and Quintessa. In Primus he utilizes winemaking techniques perfected in Napa Valley for his top Cabernets and Red Blends. The grapes for Primus are meticulously double sorted before crush. Yields are kept to a minimum so the expression of the fruit is pure and intense. The wine is aged in the finest French and American oak barrels for 14 months. It scores 90 points every vintage and this 2009 is no exception. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 90 saying" Notes of cassis, cola, cedar, tobacco, lemon and a twinge of eucalyptus comprise the bouquet on this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carmenere and Merlot. It tastes of cassis, blackberry, herb and chocolate; the finish is solid and minty, with a suggestion of cigar tobacco. This rocks hard, but with focus."
