The Grinder 2011 Pinotage, Western Cape
When the hybrid Pinotage was first bred in Stellenbosch South Africa, they idea was to combine the ripe fruit of Pinot Noir with the robust character of Cinsault, a Rhone Valley grape. It really took off in the 60's and has become the signature red of the Cape. It's often blended and barrel aged to bring out different characteristics and one that's quite common is a coffee aroma and taste. This wine takes that expression to a high level of breeding; bringing out distinct roasted coffee flavors along with blackberry, cherry notes and supple sweet tannins. A delightful and unique drinking experience.

        AS the back label of the bottle suggested -we tried it with smoked ribs over the Memorial Day weekend
        awesome combination & one friend who professes not to be a red wine person- loved it!
