Domaine Drouhin 2010 Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley
Domaine Drouhin's 90 acres of hillside vineyards that ribbon the estate are situated atop the Dundee Hills, between 400 and 800 feet in elevation. The site was selected by Robert Drouhin in the late 1980's for its remarkable similarity in climate, latitude and aspect to the legendary vineyards of Burgundy where his father Joseph Drouhin started his famous and successful negociant business. Daughter Veronique is the winemaker and son Philippe Drouhin is in charge of all of the estate vineyards in Oregon & Burgundy. They were the first to plant the new Dijon clones of Pinot Noir in Oregon which are much better suited to the coll climate. And French oak Burgundy barrels are used exclusively for aging. This 2010 is their latest release. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 92 points saying "Open and immediately accessible, this is fragrant and gently floral, with clearly defined varietal character. It opens beautifully into an elegant, aromatic and crisply structured wine, with excellent length."

Wonderfully Expressive Oregon Pinot

Comments about Domaine Drouhin 2010 Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley:

What can't Drouhin do with the Pinot grape? This wine is a great representation of Williamette Valley showing red cherry, raspberry with lacings of smoke and earth. Lots of great acidity balances out with the supple tannins ending with a long and fruit filled finish. Took me by surprise a bit, was not expecting something this impressive.
