Montes 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, Classic Series, Colchagua Vly.
Produced in their gravity-flow winery, this Cabernet shows complexity and style. Montes owns high-altitude vineyards in Chile's Colchagua Valley, that benefit from the cool temperatures and the brilliant sunlight. 15% Merlot is blended in and the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 6 months. The Wine Advocate scored this super-value Cab 90 points saying "The 2011 Montes Classic Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with 15% Merlot and offers a simple black currant, vanilla and violet bouquet that is joyful and well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannin, crisp raspberry and dark cherry fruit, zesty acidity and lovely focus on the finish. At this price, it would be hard to find a better Cabernet. Drink now-2016."

    If you are searching for a nice everyday Cab, then this is right up your alley. Nothing too fancy, but the fruit is ripe and the wine is pure. It has a medium body with soft tannins and hints of mint that show up on the back palate through the finish. Tough to beat at this price.
