Alta Vista 2011 Malbec, Classic, Mendoza |
 |
In his Wine Buyer's Guide, Robert Parker selects Alta Vista as one of the Top 5 Argentine producers. This Malbec exemplifies their attention to quality and expression at a very affordable price. The winery is in the heart of Chacras de Coria south of Mendoza city and the vineyards are high up in the Andes foothills at over 3,200 feet above sea level. After fermentation, the wine undergoes 10 days of extended maceration to enhance volume and quality of the tannins. The wine is then aged in American oak for 6 months. The cool 2011 vintage brought beautiful, bright acidity to this wine. It shows mouthfilling black cherry and berry flavors that are succulent and lively. A real steal!
