About Our Ratings

Primal Roots 2015 Red Blend, California
A lush, mouthwatering red blend, Primal Roots combines three of California's most versatile and distinctive grapes; Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel for a wine that delivers the best of all three. Oak aging adds to the nuance and complexity while the softness, richness and ripe fruit of 49% Merlot marries with the bold texture and earthiness of 42% Syrah and the zesty berry and spice of 9% Zinfandel for a mouthful of wine that's both tasty and satisfying. Aged in American and French oak barrels, it's the perfect choice for everyday foods and enjoyment.

Great Little Red
What a great little everyday red. Smooth and easy, this just fills your palate with great fruit and a nice, velvety finish.

Exceptional Cal Blend
Here is a smart California blend that is so ripe, you could use it for just about anything and anytime. A spicy overtone very similar some of the finest Zins I've had although the percentage of it is quite low. I would describe it as very chewy with dense fruity flavor that is sure to please. Just one of the many Cal blends these days that are really standing up well to the pallet. Pick up a couple of bottles at a great price and put a couple in storage for a while....I did. And remember, it dosen't have to cost a fortune to taste good.

Well rounded
Really well rounded and takes the best characteristics from each of the grapes represented. Chocolate, ripe red fruit and a hint of vanilla can all be found... and a super smooth finish!

Great everyday drinker
Very supple, soft, and round. For an everyday drinker, this little red can hardly be beat; especially for the price. Really like it a lot!

Great wine for a great price
My previous favorite smooth red was La Crema Pinot noir. Primal Roots is even better and for a much more attractive price.

Excellent Red Blend
This is a delicious red blend. For the price, it is an outstanding value. I like red blend wines, and this is one of the better ones I have had. It is a fruit forward wine, not too heavy and not too light - just right. It would go good with just about any food too, so it is a versatile red. It also is good to just drink alone because of its luscious flavor.
