Big Claw 2012 White Blend, North Coast
From California to Maine comes this bracing and succulent white wine that is the perfect match for lobster, shrimp and seafood. Conceived by seasoned wine professional, vintner and seafood lover, Steven Melchiskey who resides in the lobster capitol of the world, Portland Maine. He teamed up and tasted with lobstermen, chefs and sommeliers to create this blend of California varietals including, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Verdehlo and Gewurztraminer that brings lobster to a new level. So next time you're tying on your bib and and melting the butter make sure you've got a bottle of Big Claw chilled and ready. A portion of the proceeds from all sales of Big Claw are donated to the Lobster Institute based at the University of Maine, furthering research and outreach. Get your claws on this one!

Comments about Big Claw 2012 White Blend, North Coast:

I travel to Maine often. Discovered Big Claw in a seafood shop right in downtown Portland 4 years ago. Thought while reasonably priced it would be a gimmick wine and be terrible. WRONG. Bought it to go with lobster and it is a perfect pairing. It really does enhance the flavor. It's not to sweet. I've continued to purchase it in Maine and from Wine Express and given it to numerous friends and all agree. Great taste, great value, and the best wine to drink with lobster.

Comments about Big Claw 2012 White Blend, North Coast:

Paired well with seafood and also with apple cider marinated chicken. Very easy to drink with bright favors that don't overpower the food. Will definitely order again as we finished off our order before trying with lobster

Great with lobster, we, here in eastern NC, enjoy it with Blue Crab dishes shrimp and oysters.

Comments about Big Claw 2012 White Blend, North Coast:

I didn't have the chance to taste this with lobster, but it was still quite tasty! Lots of complexity from all the different grapes in the blend but maintained balance and a lovely acidity. The citrus and stone fruits combined nicely with the minerality leaving a crisp, dry finish. Great value white for the summer...and of course for your next clam bake with lobster!
