Purple 2011 Malbec, Cahors, Chateau Lagrezette |
 |
Purple is Malbec from France where Malbec originated. Cahors is just south of Bordeaux and Chateau Lagrezette has produced exceptional Malbec there for centuries. This particular wine is new for the Chateau and made in a forward style that's extremely appealing. Consulting Enologist Michel Rolland works closely with the estate on this and all of their wines and they are currently an all-new modern winery in Landiech, designed by Jean Nouvel. Grapes are sourced from estate vines averaging 15 years of age and this 100% Malbec is remarkably bright and vibrant. The Wine Spectator called this 2011 "Concentrated dark plum and blackberry flavors are fresh and lively in this full-bodied red. Dark chocolate notes accent the finish. Drink now through 2016." A steal!
