The extensive range of estate vineyards allows Piccini an extremely refined selection of grapes for Sasso al Poggio, which is vinified from the finest Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes among their estates. Separate vinification, extended
maceration and precise extraction techniques shape the wine’s foundation; the blend is assembled to yield the most complete wine the vintage can offer. Roughly two years’ aging in barrel bring this super Tuscan wine to completion. 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 91 points saying "This blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot shows impressive intensity and carefully measured oak tones that add nuances of clove and nutmeg. At the base are notes of red fruit, cherry and blackberry, plus dried tones of prune and cassis."
