Alta Vista 2011 Malbec, Classic, Mendoza
In his Wine Buyer's Guide, Robert Parker selects Alta Vista as one of the Top 5 Argentine producers. This Malbec exemplifies their attention to quality and expression at a very affordable price. The winery is in the heart of Chacras de Coria south of Mendoza city and the vineyards are high up in the Andes foothills at over 3,200 feet above sea level. After fermentation, the wine undergoes 10 days of extended maceration to enhance volume and quality of the tannins. The wine is then aged in American oak for 6 months. The cool 2011 vintage brought beautiful, bright acidity to this wine. It shows mouthfilling black cherry and berry flavors that are succulent and lively. A real steal!

Comments about Alta Vista 2011 Malbec, Classic, Mendoza:

This wine is among the reds I drink every night--one glass of red wine with the evening meal. It is a very smooth wine and a great price value.

Comments about Alta Vista 2011 Malbec, Classic, Mendoza:

I agree with madrad's statement...the price IS right for this everyday Malbec. Lots of pleasant dark fruits with some sweet spices mixed in there. It's quite smooth and soft on the palate with good acidity making it an excellent food friendly option for your next BBQ.

although drinkable now, is this wine durable enough to lay down some bottles for a period of time? if so, how long would it hold do you think? thank you.

              A:

Sure. Like most Malbecs this wine is hardy and has good structure. In a temperature controlled cellar it could age nicely for 4-5 years.
