Lapostolle 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, Cuvee Alexandre, Apalta Vyd., Colchagua Valley
The Apalta Vineyard is the gem of the Lapostolle estate in Chile's Colchagua Valley. Surounded on three sides by hills and a river on the other it has its own unique micro-climate. Planted back in 1920 it also has deeply rooted grapevines averaging 60 years old that provide low yields of less that 2 tons per acre and grapes with deep complex flavors. The Cuvee Alexandre Cabernet is sourced from this vineyard and every vintage it excels in both quality and value! Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 90 points saying "Aromas of blackberry and cassis are spicy and a touch herbal. A tannic, firm palate suggests that aging will help this along; flavors of blackberry and cassis are lightly herbal, while the finish is dense, fruity, earthy and generous. Drink through 2018."
