Liberty School’s Chardonnay is grown along California’s Central Coast. Greatly influenced by maritime breezes, these cooler climate vineyards typically produce bright, yet lush fruit that exhibits a slight tropical character. The vineyards are located in Monterey and Santa Barbara counties, which are known for their long growing seasons allowing the grapes to ripen
consistently. Barrel fermented in French and American oak and aged sur lie for 6-8 months. The wine is stirred once a month to give it a rich mouthfeel. Of course Liberty School proprietor Austin Hope is a huge fan of Rhone varietals so blending in 2% Marsanne and 2% Viognier with the Chardonnay was a natural and it gives this lush tropical fruit laden Chard an intense perfume and layers of complexity you’d never expect from such a value priced wine.
