Stonestreet 2007 Fifth Ridge Red, Alexander Mountain Estate, Alexander Valley
What a Find!!! A 2007 Red Bordeaux style blend from Stonestreet. Stonestreet wines are all grown on the Alexander Mountain Estate; 235 individual vineyard blocks on the western ridge of the Mayacamas Mountain range towering over the Alexander Valley below. High elevations, volcanically derived soils and cooling maritime breezes make it a very unique location and one where mountain grape growing reaches a pinnacle. Most of their wines are single vineyard releases that critics go wild over. This wine is a blend of 50% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Malbec, 6% Petite Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc sourced from several vineyards on the fifth mountain ridge in from the ocean. Hence, the name. The wine was fermented in tank and then aged 19 months in 38% new French oak barrels. This 2007 Fifth Ridge is a classic representation of the gorgeous tension between mountain Cabernet and Merlot. The nose is savory, marked by walnut, bay leaf, coffee and black olive—yet all that darkness is bolstered on the palate by a core of bright cherry fruit and a lifted, lengthy finish shaded by graphite-flavored tannins. Very limited!

Comments about Stonestreet 2007 Fifth Ridge Red, Alexander Mountain Estate, Alexander Valley:

There is nothing I dislike about anything Stonestreet. Consistent, complex and perfect wine every time for a price tag anyone can afford. Even their higher end wines, which rank up there with some of the best I've ever tasted, are very reasonable for the ridiculous quality they offer. My cellar is filled with the stuff!

Comments about Stonestreet 2007 Fifth Ridge Red, Alexander Mountain Estate, Alexander Valley:

I love the complexity of this Bordeaux like red. It is well balanced and has a long finish. Should have bought 2 cases instead of 1.

Comments about Stonestreet 2007 Fifth Ridge Red, Alexander Mountain Estate, Alexander Valley:

Wow is this some fantastic juice!! Intense on the nose with black cherry, sweet raspberry and plum with notes of lavendar and graphite. It is super lush on the palate with a dense core and dusty tannins. It has wonderful balance allowing all the components to display themselves and finishes with just a hint of baker's chocolate. Awesome from start to finish.

Comments about Stonestreet 2007 Fifth Ridge Red, Alexander Mountain Estate, Alexander Valley:

The Stonestreet line is always really good but often commands a hefty price tag. This Fifth Ridge is a great value but still has big bold flavors and a silky smooth texture. Layers of coffee and chestnut cascade on dark fruit. It's a delicious mouthful!
