Tenuta Polvaro in the Veneto is an estate that dates back to the 1600's. The De Zan family, makers of the Candoni wines, now owns it and they produce wines that are traditional in character but modern in style. This delectable sweet dessert wine is made from a local grape that is not often seen. In the vineyard they cut off the water supply to the grapes allowing them to shrivel on the vine. Then these sweet raisinated grapes are fermented into a lush, spicy tasting treat. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored the 2010 92 points saying "Made primarily from Verduzzo, with a small percentage of other native grapes, this opens with aromas of caramel, butterscotch, pine nut and sweet apricot. The acidity keeps the palate refreshed. This tastes like it should cost two or three times its price."
