Saint-Veran 2009 Moulin du Pont, Vins Auvigue |
 |
Jean-Pierre and Michel Auvigue are third generation proprietors at the Moulin du Pont, their winery, a converted mill in the Macon region of southern Burgundy. The Domaine specializes in the wines of Pouilly-Fuisse Saint -Veran and other Maconnais whites. The 100% Chardonnay grapes for this wine come from family estates and carefully selected estates in the best areas of Saint-Veran, from grapevines situated on chalk and limestone hillsides. Wine making is traditional with ageing in used oak casks and a minimal treatment in the vineyards. Their production is small but the quality is of the highest level. The wine is beautifully structured, showing dense fruit, toasty flavors and bright citrus. Balanced and full bodied. A great value for White Burgundy!
