For almost four decades Clos du Val has been producing exceptional Chardonnays from their estate vineyards in the the Carneros region. French Winemaker Bernard Portet secured 180 acres of prime Carneros vineyard property back in the early 70's which have been the basis for the legacy this winery holds today. This 2011, crafted by today's winemakers, John Clews and Kristy Melton is made in the French style with barrel fermentation and 10 months aging in 20% new oak. It shows rich tropical fruit, baked apple and pear with ripe, expressive flavors of peach and apricot. The mouthfeel is full and rich, accented by bright citrus and a hint of oak on a long finish.
