About Our Ratings

Artesa 2012 Chardonnay, Carneros
Artesa's architecturally-acclaimed facility opened as Codorniu Napa in 1991, dedicated solely to méthode champenoise sparkling wine production. But in 1997, with the arrival of a world-class winemaker and a $10 million conversion, the winery shifted focus dramatically. Artesa was born with the inaugural release of ultra-premium still wines in September 1999. Technically a part of Napa Valley, the Carneros region straddles both Sonoma & Napa counties. It's the Napa region closest to the San Francisco peninsula and the San Pablo Bay, which is instrumental in controlling the climate of the area. The winds from the San Pablo bay create a cool weather pattern ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Wine & Spirits Magazine said “Clean and mild, this chardonnay has scents of cider apples and smoke. Best Buy.”

A new fan of Chardonnay

By NY wine lover

Comments about Artesa 2012 Chardonnay, Carneros:

Recently I was introduced to this fantastic Cali Chardonnay and I was told it would be buttery. It really did had a smooth buttery flavor!!
This wine did not have the overwhelming smell and taste of Oak which generally turns me off about Chardonnay. I highly recommend trying this wine, it will change how you think about Cards.

Comments about Artesa 2012 Chardonnay, Carneros:

If you like your Chards big, buttery and oaky then this one is for you! However it maintains good acidity and the fruit is still evident on the nose and palate. Perfect with a roasted chicken or duck, and certainly a great match for lobster.
